STANFORD, Calif. Following a 12-9, overtime victory against No. 3 USC in its MPSF opener, the No. 2 Cardinal women’s water polo team swept MPSF/Kap7 weekly honors for the second time on Tuesday. Sophomore Jamie Neushul was named MPSF/Kap7 Player of the Week and freshman Jordan Raney earned MPSF/Kap7 Newcomer of the Week accolades for their performances in Stanford’s 34th straight regular-season league win.

Neushul provided the three-goal difference and picked an opportune time to post her second career hat trick, pouring in three goals in the 12-9 win at USC. The sophomore tallied Stanford’s first and last goal and also fired one home midway through the third quarter to lead all scorers. Neushul, who scored 20 times last season and was named ACWPC All-America honorable mention, is tied for fourth on this year’s team with 17 goals through 15 games. This is her first career player of the week honor.

Raney made it seven consecutive games in which she has scored, putting away a game-tying second quarter goal at No. 3 USC. Stanford would not trail the rest of the way. Raney also drew a pair of exclusions. This is her second newcomer of the week award (Feb. 24).

Stanford is the first MPSF school to sweep the league’s weekly awards twice this season. Junior Gabby Stone (player) and freshman Katie Dudley (newcomer) did so on Feb. 3.

Neushul, Raney and the Cardinal are 14-1 overall and 1-0 in MPSF play in 2015. Stanford is next in action when it hosts Harvard on Friday, March 20 at Avery Aquatic Center at 7 p.m.
