COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Kassidy Cook and Lilly Hinrichs of the Stanford women’s swimming and diving team qualified for the NCAA championship meet during this week’s NCAA Zone E Diving Championships. The pair will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, along with 14 swimmers March 19-21.

Cook clinched a roster spot by earning third in the 1-meter Monday. She scored 606.25 total after qualifying in fifth place. Arizona’s Samantha Pickens (639.35) and UCLA’s Maria Polyakova (613.95) were the only Zone E divers ahead of Cook.

Cook’s final 1-meter dive, a reverse 1 ½ somersault pike, was the best of her Zone meet, scoring 61.20 as the top scoring dive of the round.

The sophomore from The Woodlands, Texas, capped her qualifying by going for seventh in the 3-meter to guarantee herself two events at next week’s NCAA meet. Hailey Capser of Arizona State won with a score of 672.30, 50.65 ahead of Cook.

Hinrichs will compete off the platform thanks to a sixth-place showing Wednesday. She scored 503.15, including a pair of fourth-place rounds on her back 2 ½ somersault pike and reverse 2 ½ somersault tuck. USC’s Haley Ishimatsu won with a final tally of 656.05.
