STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford senior Amber Orrange was named a Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American it was announced Friday morning.

The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I women’s basketball coaches, national basketball media and fans, is given annually to outstanding senior student-athletes in Division I women’s basketball. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Orrange is the fifth Stanford student-athlete to receive Senior CLASS recognition, joining Chiney Ogwumike (2013-14; first team), Nnemkadi Ogwumike (2011-12; first team), Candice Wiggins (2007-08, first team) and Nicole Powell (2003-04, second team).

Iowa’s Samantha Logic was selected as the 2014-15 Senior CLASS Award® winner in NCAA® Division I women’s basketball. She was accompanied on the first team by Alexa Hayward (Saint Francis), Jamie Kaplan (Tulane), Kiah Stokes (Connecticut) and Elizabeth Williams (Duke).

Orrange was on the second team with Sunejiro Agbuke (Baylor), Nneka Enemkpali (Texas), Isabelle Harrison (Tennessee) and Megan Rogowski (DePaul).

It’s the latest in a laundry list of accolades for Orrange, who earned an Associated Press All-America honorable mention nod on Tuesday and last week was named one of five Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-Region VIII honorees.

The Houston, Texas native, who completed her academic work at Stanford in science, technology and society a quarter early with the completion of finals two weeks ago, finished her career in 2014-15 averaging career bests in points (13.3) and rebounds (4.0). Orrange is one of just five Stanford players with 1,000 career points and 500 assists, joining Jennifer Azzi, Sonja Henning, Jeanette Pohlen and Nicole Powell.

Her 1,426 career points rank 20th all-time at Stanford and her 552 assists are seventh. She is one of just seven Cardinal to reach the 500-assist plateau, joining Sonja Henning (757), Jennifer Azzi (751), Milena Flores (644), Jamila Wideman (585), Nicole Powell (577) and Jeanette Pohlen (560).

A consistent performer through her career at Stanford, Orrange is also fifth in school history in games played (146) and fourth in minutes (4,200).

In addition to completing her coursework a quarter early, during her four years at Stanford Orrange volunteered her time with a number of charitable ventures, including service projects at the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford, the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and St. Anthony’s Padua Dining Room.

Stanford finished its season 26-10 overall and 13-5 in Pac-12 play. The Cardinal advanced to its eighth consecutive Sweet 16 and also claimed the program’s 11th Pac-12 Tournament title in 14 years.
