STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore Michael Humphrey finished with a career-high 21 points, sophomore Dorian Pickens scored 20 and senior Rosco Allen added a double-double as the trio led Stanford past Sacramento State, 70-60, on Monday night at Maples Pavilion.

Humphrey, Pickens and Allen accounted for 21 of Stanford's last 27 points as the Cardinal held off the Hornets, who tied the game with just 5:47 remaining.

Moments after the visitors evened the score at 56-56, Allen converted a three-point play, Pickens sunk a pair of free throws and Humphrey followed up with two straight buckets for a 67-60 lead with 1:59 to go. 

Christian Sanders sealed the game with a steal on the ensuing possession, and then dished to Marcus Allen for an insurance layup.

The Hornets led much of the first half and held their largest lead at 19-10 midway through the opening period. 

It was an eight-point deficit, 26-18, when the Cardinal went on an 18-4 run -- boosted by six points apiece from Humphrey and Pickens in that stretch -- and took a 36-33 lead into the half.

Stanford also scored nine of the first 13 points in the second for a 45-37 edge, and eventually pushed that to a double-digit lead, 52-42, before the Hornets used a 14-4 run to tie the game.  

Rosco earned his second double-double of the season with 11 points and a season-high 12 rebounds. Pickens added five rebounds and five assists to go along with his second straight 20-point scoring performance. Humphrey was one rebound shy of a double-double and was 9-of-15 from the floor.

Marcus Allen led the Cardinal with six assists in addtion to nine points, six boards and two steals. Sanders had six points on a pair of threes and finished with a game-high three steals.
