CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Three Stanford wrestlers have reached the quarterfinals of the 2016 Defense Soap & Flips Wrestling Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tennessee, while six other Cardinal are still alive in the consolation brackets.
Fourth-ranked frershman Joey McKenna (141 pounds), redshirt freshman Paul Fox (149 pounds) and redshirt sophomore Nathan Butler (285 pounds) are the three Cardinal who have advanced to the quarterfinals.
As a team, Stanford sits in a tie with Penn for 12th-place with 23.5 points. Penn State leads the field with 47.5 points followed by Oklahoma State (44.5) and Cornell (40.0).
Action resumes at the Southern Scuffle on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 9 a.m. ET.
