Two More Pac-12 Titles

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - One day after setting an American record, the top-ranked Stanford women's swimming and diving team continued its strong start with an impressive second day at the Pac 12 Championships. 

Stanford holds a slight lead in the team standings with 557 points following Thursday's action at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. Just behind the Cardinal are USC (512) and Cal (477.5). 

Freshman Ella Eastin and senior Gracia Leydon-Mahoney each claimed individual Pac-12 titles for the Cardinal. Eastin posted the seventh-fastest time in history in the 200 individual medley, while Leydon-Mahoney became Stanford's second straight Pac-12 champion in 3-meter diving.

In the preliminaries, Eastin finished with the ninth-best time ever recorded in the event, and then bested that in the finals with a winning time of 1:52.77. The freshman was one of five Cardinal swimmers to score in the event.

Leydon-Mahoney earned the Pac-12 championship in the 3-meter by dethroning teammate Alex Clay, who finished as the runner-up in the event to give the Cardinal a 1-2 finish. Leydon-Mahoney won with an impressive score of 379.55, while Clay, the 2015 conference champion, was not far behind at 362.95.

Junior Lia Neal was the Pac-12 runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle with a finish of 21.88, while the 200-yard freestyle relay team was also second with a finish of 1:27.92.

Wednesday Recap - In the first event of the meet, Stanford's 200-yard medley relay team of Ally Howe (23.62), Sarah Haase (26.20), Janet Hu (22.82) and Lia Neal (21.51) set an American record. In addition, Alex Clay was runner-up in 1-meter diving.

Where to Watch - Pac-12 Networks will broadcast the first two days of action on tape delay on Friday, Feb. 26. Day Three can be seen on Saturday, Feb. 27, and the final day will air Sunday, Feb. 28. Each broadcast will begin at 10 a.m.
