FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - With just one day of competition left, Stanford padded its lead in the evening session of the Pac-12 Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday.
“We had lots of great additions to our program’s top-15 list tonight in the 400-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke,” said Goldman Family Director of Men’s Swimming Ted Knapp. “I am very happy we were able to extend our lead but we know tomorrow needs to be our best morning of the meet.”
Stanford got the ball rolling with another big haul in the first event of the night, the 400-yard individual medley. Abrahm DeVine (3:42.20) shaved more than two seconds off his prelim time to finish second, while Curtis Ogren (3:41.43) took third. Maxwell Williamson (3:43.27) and Danny Thomson (3:46.61) scored valuable points in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Stanford continued to show its depth in the 100-yard butterfly, with three swimmers in each final. Connor Black (46.37) finished fifth, with Gray Umbach (46.71) taking sixth and Andrew Liang (46.73) finishing seventh. Sam Perry (46.83) won the B-final while Ryan Arata (47.03) and Ryan Dudzinski also picked up points for the Cardinal.
Stanford had five more student-athletes earn second swims in the 200-yard freestyle. Liam Egan (1:35.74) took eighth place, while Sean Duggan (1:35.28) won the B-final. Cole Cogswell (1:35.65), Jeff Garnier (1:37.33) and Spencer DeShon (1:37.52) were also evening participants.

Matt Anderson (53.52) earned a second swim in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing second in the B-final.
Ryan Dudzinski (46.28) finished third in the 100-yard backstroke while Ryan Arata (46.57) took fifth and Patrick Conaton (47.16) sixth. Andrew Liang (47.34) also scored points for the Cardinal in the B-final.
Stanford’s final swim of the night came in the 400-yard medley relay. Dudzinski, Anderson, Black and Perry (3:08.37) finished fourth.
In the 3-meter diving finals, Connor Kuremsky (367.25) took second while Bradley Christensen (360.85) finished third. Tarek Abdelghany (304.30) and Ted Miclau (270.00) also earned points for the Cardinal.

Stanford returns to action tomorrow on the final day of the Pac-12 Championships, with the 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard free relay. Prelims start at 11 a.m. (PT) with the final evening session slated for 6 p.m. Live results will be available at GoStanford.com.
