Stanford Powers Past Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. – Hitting .361 as a team, the No. 7 Stanford women's volleyball team swept Oregon, 25-23, 25-17, 25-18, Thursday, at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon. The Cardinal improves to 16-5 overall and 10-3 in the Pac-12, while the Ducks drop to 11-11 and 5-8 in the conference.

Senior setter Madi Bugg directed the offense with 37 assists and was solid defensively with eight digs and four blocks. Freshman libero Halland McKenna registered double-digit digs for the seventh straight match, finishing with 13. Stanford held Oregon to a .195 attack percentage, marking the fourth straight match holding its opponents under .200.

Down 17-11 in the opening set, the Cardinal outscored the Ducks 14-6 to take control of the match. Senior outside hitter Brittany Howard led all players with a .565 attack percentage (13-0-23). She also collected 11 digs and a solo block, recording her sixth double-double of the season. Redshirt sophomore Merete Lutz finished with a match-high 14 kills on a .480 hitting percentage and two blocks.

Freshman opposite Hayley Hodson was also in double digits with 12 kills, hitting .320, and 12 digs. She is now tied with Bugg for the team lead with nine double-doubles on the year. Redshirt sophomore Ivana Vanjak added five kills and five blocks, while senior Jordan Burgess finished with three kills and eight digs.

Freshman Lindsey Vander Weide paced Oregon with 11 kills and 13 digs, while Taylor Agost notched nine kills for the Ducks. Libero Amanda Benson had a match-high 15 digs. The Cardinal has now won eight straight matches against Oregon.

Stanford continues its road trip on Sunday, Nov. 8 at Oregon State. The Cardinal and Beavers square-off at 11 a.m. PT on Pac-12 Bay Area and Pac-12 Oregon.
