DiRado Earns Second Title

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- Maya DiRado followed up her national title in the 200 individual medley on Thursday with a win in the 400 medley on Friday night at the AT&T Winter Nationals.

DiRado led most of the way in the 400 IM and earned her second title in as many days. The former Cardinal finished in 4:36.85 -- the fourth-fastest time in the world this year -- to out pace the field, which included freshman Ella Eastin's impressive fifth-place finish of 4:43.65.

In the 200 freestyle, Simone Manuel was fifth in the finals with a finish of 1:58.54. Also in the 200 free, Neal (2:02.91) was 33rd out of the 66 swimmers. In addition, Kim Williams (1:11.52) was 36th in the 100 breaststroke and Eastin was 55th in the 100 back at 1:04.70.

Felicia Lee finished eighth in the 100 fly at 1:00.00, while Nicole Stafford was 41st (1:02.01).

On the first day of action, DiRado and Manuel claimed national titles in the 200 individual medley and 50 free, respectively, while Eastin (200 IM) and Neal (50 free) won the B finals.

On the final day, the Cardinal has three slated for the 200 breast and four in the 100 free in addition to Williams in the 200 fly and DiRado in the 200 back. A full recap from each day's events will be available at GoStanford.com.
