STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomore Janet Hu won three individual events to propel the third-ranked Stanford women's swimming and diving team to a decisive 181-114 win over No. 7 Arizona on Saturday afternoon at Avery Aquatic Center.
The Cardinal, which won all but one event on Saturday, completed a weekend sweep over Arizona State (176-63) and the Wildcats, and moved to 4-0 on the season.
"They all did a really good job of staying focused, being supportive of each other and racing hard today," head coach Greg Meehan said. "I'm really pleased with how we are coming together, and moving forward together as a group. We are on a good path and I think that showed today."
Hu won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.18, finished first in the 200 backstroke in 1:55.46, and earned her third victory of the day in the 100 butterfly at 53.15. She was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay team.
Sophomore Gracia Leydon-Mahoney took home the 3-meter diving title for the second straight day. She finished with a score of 291.08, while senior Alex Clay was second at 287.25. Clay was also the runner-up in the 1-meter event behind senior teammate Kelly Markle, who won with a score of 282.08. Clay (275.40) and Leydon-Mahoney (263.48) helped Stanford sweep the podium.
"We had a great day today," head diving coach Patrick Jeffrey said. "In particular, Kelly Markle and Gracia Leydon-Mahoney had stellar performances. Lily and Alex were both impressive as well. I feel like we are on track for a really solid champhionship season."
Senior Sarah Haase won the 100 breast in 1:01.06, junior Lia Neal earned the victory in the 200 free with a finish of 1:46.90, sophomore Ally Howe garnered a first-place finish in the 100 back at 53.60, and freshman Leah Stevens hit 10:00.00 on the nose to take the top spot in the 1,000 free.
That stretch gave the Cardinal a commanding lead at the first break in the action. It was followed by victories from freshman Ella Eastin in the 200 fly (1:56.75), Neal in the 100 free (49.17), and the first two wins from Hu.
Hasse also won the 200 breast (2:14.10) and was a member of the 200 medley relay which opened the meet with a winning time of 1:38.22. Julia Ama, Howe, Lindsey Engel and Neal raced an exhibition but posted the top time in the 400 free relay at 3:19.03.

Third-ranked Stanford heads South to take on #18 UCLA on Friday and USC on Saturday. The mathcup with the Bruins will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks beginning at 2 p.m., and the meet with the Trojans is set to begin at noon.
