STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford gymnast Akash Modi was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday.

Modi claimed all four of Stanford's individual event victories against No. 3 Ohio State and No. 5 Cal, placing first on floor (16.000), pommel horse (15.400), parallel bars (15.250) and high bar (15.550). Modi's marks on floor, pommel horse and high bar were also career bests. In addition he collected his second all-around title on the year with a 90.550 score.

Modi has earned nine individual event victories against NCAA teams this season: all-around (2), parallel bars (2), floor (2), pommel horse (1) and high bar (2).

His score helped Stanford post a 445.550 score, the highest by a Cardinal team on the road since 2012 when the scoring system was adjusted.

The award is the first of the season for Modi and his ninth career MPSF Gymnast of the Week honor.

Stanford and Modi will look to keep their momentum going Jan. 30 as they set to host the Stanford Open at 7 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion in Stanford, Calif.
