SMU Defeats Stanford to Win Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, SC - Mary Ann Means scored the game's only goal in leading unranked Southern Methodist to a 1-0 win over 16th-ranked Stanford for the Championship of the Clemson Women's Soccer Invitational Tournament.

Though Stanford drove 12 shots at SMU, none found their target. The game was a scoreless draw after regulation time. The first overtime period settled nothing. But in the second overtime period, Mary Ann Means found the back of the net with a 28-yard drive that went over the head of Stanford goal keeper Erin Bryla.

With the loss Stanford falls to 3-2 on the season, while SMU improves to 5-1.
