Quarry Park Let's Work Volunteer Days: Saturdays 5/7 and 6/04

Please join the Parks and Recreation Commission members on Saturdays, May 7th and June 4th (weather permitting) in their effort to remove wild bush and broom and to clear the trail paths at Quarry Park so that visitors can walk farther up the trail. The Let's Work Saratoga Volunteer Program allows volunteers to enjoy nature, beautify the trails, and help the City maintain the newly opened Quarry Park. FireSafe Council Seeks Feedback on Draft Wildfire Protection Plan
5/4/2016  The Santa Clara County FireSafe Council is seeking public feedback on its draft Wildfire Protection Plan since residents know their communities best. The meeting will be held on Monday, May 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cupertino City Hall, 10350 Torre Avenue.

The draft plan will be presented at the meeting and will be focused on Saratoga, Cupertino, Los Altos Hills, and Palo Alto. The plan takes many factors into consideration, including vegetation and tree types, tree mortality, fuel loading, slope, weather/climate, roads, homes, other structures and facilities at risk, water sources, and distance from fire stations, among others.

'Select Committe' to Address Aircraft Noise
5/2/2016  In April, U.S. Representatives Anna G. Eshoo (CA-18), Sam Farr (CA-20) and Jackie Speier (CA-14) announced the formation of the new Select Committee on South Bay Arrivals, which will work with local stakeholders to develop regional solutions to address aircraft noise. The Select Committee is comprised of 12 local elected officials, including Saratoga City Council Member Mary-Lynne Bernald who was appointed to the Committee by the Santa Clara County Cities Association.

The Select Committee on South Bay Arrivals will accept public input, review FAA proposals, and make recommendations on issues identified in the FAA’s Initiative with a focus on arrival issues that primarily impact the South Bay Region. The FAA’s updated Initiative to Address Northern California Noise Concerns has been released.

Quiet Skies NorCal, a regional organization dedicated to reducing the impact of jet noise on residents’ lives, invites the public attend the Quiet Skies Summit on Saturday, May 14, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Hillview Community Center and Park, 97 Hillview Avenue, in Los Altos.

The Quiet Skies summits are a forum for residents and the Bay Area’s community advocacy groups leadership to discuss issues and impacts caused by the transition to the FAA's NextGen NorCal Metroplex. There will be a meet and greet session for those in attendance.
