When a child meets a doctor for the first time, it can be intimidating. I try to create a fun environment where kids feel comfortable, safe, and included in the conversation. My approach is to include the family in the decision-making process because they are the child's real caregiver and they know them the best. I believe in the power of teamwork; patients and their families are an integral part of our care team.
One of the things I enjoy most about my career is watching patients improve and accomplish great things in their life despite limitations. Neurology is a specialty where, even when we cannot find a cure or change a condition, we can always find ways to support a better quality of life. It is important to me that we face diagnosis with hope and that we share in the overall objective for your child to improve to the best of their ability for the best life possible.
