Anita Honkanen, MD

  • Anita Honkanen
  • “I help patients through the most critical and vulnerable moments of their lives.”

Working in anesthesia means that I help patients through the most critical and vulnerable moments of their lives, guarding and protecting them during a surgical procedure.

The patients I treat are often going through a significant and difficult event; I try to make both the child and parents comfortable, while providing expert medical care. I am humbled at being entrusted with that which is most precious for families: their child's life.

Each child has their own story that only their family knows; I try to listen carefully to what my patients' families have to say about their child's needs. You can't care for a child without hearing and understanding their unique story.

I consider myself the most fortunate person in the world, both because I love what I do and the life I have with my family.
