Richard White, a historian widely regarded as one of the nation's leading scholars in the American West, Native American history, and environmental history, was invited to speak for the "Ethics and Wealth" lecture series at Stanford University on October 2nd, 2012. According to White and literary critic Gavin Jones, the Gilded Age saw surprising responses to the embarrassment of riches.

In the Ethics and Wealth series of talks, seminars, readings, films and performances, the McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society, along with several campus partners will critically explore the relationship between money and humanity.
