Retirement planning workshop

Retirement today is far more complicated than what it used to be. Questions about when to retire, where to live, what to do and being financially secure, are just a few questions to consider in planning for this life transition. Retirement is not something we just do; it is a process we need to plan for and prepare ourselves for both mentally and physically. Healthy Kitchen, Happy Heart

What better time than the month of February, American Heart Month, to turn our Healthy Kitchen focus to your heart, and the hearts of your loved ones? In this class, we will learn to prepare dishes with healthy fats, fiber, and lots of flavor. We will discuss how to limit sodium without compromising taste. In addition to sharing tips on creating your own heart-healthy, plant-based recipes, you will taste a variety of culinary creations prepared by instructors Amanda Perez and Rosalyne Tu. Take home recipes to try out on your Valentines!

SCC Seminar - Movement and Activity Solutions

Stanford Coordinated Care is proud to present our first seminar series of the new year! We will be holding three free hour long sessions that focus on aging gracefully and body awareness skills. The sessions will be interactive and led by our Physical Therapist, Deborah Bowes and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Coleen Travers. In this second session we will explore gentle and comfortable movement and awareness exercises for self-care. Each person will be encouraged to participate according to their ability and needs. It will be a supportive and non-competitive experience.

Pre-Diabetes...A Wake Up Call

The number of Americans diagnosed with diabetes has tripled over the past 30 years. A combination of genetic susceptibility and lifestyle may be responsible for this dramatic increase over such a short span of time. The good news is that those who are at risk can slow the progression and even prevent diabetes from ever developing. In this 3-session class, we will focus on the lifestyle changes that have been shown to delay and prevent diabetes more effectively than medications alone.
