Contemplation by Design: Carillon Concert

BeWell invites you to join other members of the Stanford community to experience the peace of mind and well-being that comes with sharing contemplative time.

Inside Rodin's Hands: Teaching Surgery Through Art and Anatomy

Dr. Jim Chang offers insight into the role of art in a medical education and discusses his collaboration with the Cantor to develop Inside Rodin's Hands, a special exhibition presenting Rodin’s sculptures through the lens of hand surgery. Dr. Chang is Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a professor at the Stanford Medical Center.

The Cardinal Walk

Every year in May, Provost John Etchemendy and department supervisors lead members of the Stanford community on the annual Cardinal Walk, a 1.5-mile journey around our scenic campus. 

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to take a break in their workday and join BeWell and the other members of the Stanford community for festive music and refreshments before the walk.

Jack Kornfield: "Mindfulness, Love and Graceful Living in Fast Times"

Join us for an evening with Jack Kornfield PhD, one of the senior Buddhist teachers in America. Modern neuroscience and mindfulness have come together to show how we can live a wise and compassionate life. This is what the Dalai Lama calls learning "the science of mind." With clear teachings, systematic practices and practical stories we will explore the essence of Buddhist training, developing simple and necessary tools for navigating modern times with wisdom. We will learn to apply the foundations of mindfulness to our body, feelings, mind and relationships.

Yoga on the Labyrinth

Rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit as we perform sacred gestures in the sacred space of Memorial Church on a sacred piece of geometry, the labyrinth. The space and light this architecture offers to visitors is awe inspiring and memorable.

Stanford Center on Longevity: 2013-2014 Design Challenge Finals

The Stanford Center on Longevity’s Design Challenge asked the worlds’ universities how to “Maximize Independence for those with Cognitive Impairment”. Seven finalist teams from around the world have been chosen from among 52 entries from 15 countries. They are coming to Stanford to make their final pitches for a $10,000 first prize and connections to industry leaders and investors. There will be talks by a number of distinguished speakers, a panel of Silicon Valley investors, and the announcement of next years’ challenge.
