The Fog of Concussion

A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury that is caused by a blow to the head or body, a fall, or another injury that jars or shakes the brain inside the skull. This talk will discuss the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and biology of concussion.

Migraines are an intense and often debilitating type of headache which affect nearly 24 million Americans every year. This talk will focus on the causes of migraines, how they are diagnosed, and how they are differentiated from other kinds of headaches, as well as current treatments for this condition.

Every spring at Stanford, BeWell@Stanford and the Health Improvement Program co-sponsor an employee Wellness Fair.

This year’s event theme will be "Going Green.” 

Over 50 vendors will offer participants a variety of wellness services relating to five wellness themes.  Here is a sample of the activities:

Conversations on Compassion

In this dialogue CCARE’s founder and director, Dr. James Doty, will ask worldwide meditation teacher, Sharon Salzberg, about her life’s work and what role compassion may have played. This event is an hour-long dialogue followed by questions from the audience. 

Sharon Salzberg has been a student of meditation since 1971, and leading meditation retreats worldwide since 1974. She teaches both intensive awareness practice (vipassana or insight meditation) and the profound cultivation of lovingkindness and compassion (the Brahma Viharas).

TMJ Disorders: Diagnosis and Treatment
