Earn a Berry: WorkLife workshop

The Stanford WorkLife Office, in partnership with BeWell@Stanford, is hosting two of its six-session Brown Bag Speaker Series on February 13 and March 27. The speaker series addresses various topics from child care/parenting, eldercare/caregiving, financial planning, and work-life integration, and is free for the Stanford community; no reservations required. Employees who attend are also able to earn a “Commit to Community” BeWell Berry.

On Thursday, February 13 (12:15 – 1:15 pm), guest speakers and Stanford employees, Marcy Mamiya and Kathy Zonana, will lead a casual discussion on Supporting Your Special Needs Child. Mamiya and Zonana will share their personal journeys parenting special needs children and discuss how to identify your child’s needs, advocacy, as well as resources and services available for parents. This session will be located in Environment & Energy Building (Y2E2), Room 382.

On March 27 (4:00 – 5:00 pm), well-known co-author Sharon Meers will discuss her book, Getting to 50/50: How Working Parents Can Have it All, and share personal stories and a practical roadmap to help women — and men — stay engaged with their kids without sacrificing their careers. The author session is co-sponsored by The Clayman Institute for Gender Research, and will be held at Tresidder Oak Lounge (459 Lagunita Drive).
