I'm Not Sure How Urgent This Problem Is

When you find two inches of water covering the floor of an office, it's obvious the problem should be fixed right away.  Unfortunately, not every situation is always clear.  Some issues have larger implications for the building than you might expect.  In other situations, BGM likes to know about problems so that we can monitor them.

The following table identifies some of the categories of services we offer and what you should do for specific situations.

Service Needed What To Do
Urgent maintenance needs, including:
  • Strong gas odor
  • Major water leak
  • Overflowing toilet
  • Unable to secure exterior door
  • Too hot/cold in controlled temperature labs
  • Coldboxes temperature problems
  • Stop sign down
  • Burning electrical odor
  • Strange equipment noises
  • Any other very urgent situation

To report a same-day-service need, such as:
  • Doors not latching/locking
  • Too hot/cold in administrative areas
  • Leaking/dripping sinks/faucets
  • Doors/locks in need of adjustment, not closing properly
  • Clogged toilets
  • Tree branch down, but not blocking traffic
  • Minor pest control problems
  • Other non-Customer funded requests (See Who Pays for What for more details)

Building repairs that BGM pays for, including (See Who Pays for What for more details):
  • Toilet
  • Light switches
  • Floors in hallways&stairwell
  • Door locks
  • Temperature too hot/cold
  • Thermostat malfunction
  • Roof leaks
  • Window not opening/closing
Use Facilities Funded form
Building repairs, maintenance, and other work that a department pays for, such as (See Who Pays for What for more details):
  • Adding electric outlet for new equipment
  • Re-keying or re-programming door locks
  • Hanging pictures
  • Whiteboards
  • Repairing furniture
  • Building cabinets/bookshelves
  • Installing purchased cabinets/bookshelves
  • Repairing window coverings
  • Irrigation shutdown requests
