Paul H. King, Ph.D., is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Emeritus and a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Emeritus. His current research interests are in medical instrumentation, computerized operating room monitoring, expert systems in anesthesiology. Previously, Dr. King worked with the Department of Anesthesiology on various projects involving the monitoring of data acquired during surgery and in various intensive care units. Some of his current work includes the development of the design thrust of the VaNTH ERC in Biomedical Engineering Education. Dr. King's most recent projects included the development of monitoring systems for anesthesiology, the development of artificial intelligence based advisory systems, safety research and accident prevention in anesthesia using the Human Patient Simulator, the development of Clinical and Departmental Databases and Electronic Patient Records, and analysis of electrocardiograms. Dr. King holds a a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University. He also holds a B.S. in Engineering Science and an M.S. degree in Engineering from the Case Institute of Technology.
