LASER is a national program that brings artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversation with an audience. Each evening event, free of charge and open to the public, presents artists, scientists, thinkers, inventors, and scholars who are working on paradigm shifts. Each evening also allows the audience to socialize and encourages people in the audience to briefly introduce their own work. For more information, please visit lasertalks.com.

On April 13, join us for a special LASER event: A centennial celebration of the Dada movement. This event will feature an extravagant cast of scholars, artists, and musicians, including Luciano Chessa (futurist composer), Jonathon Keats (experimental philosopher), Pavle Levi (Associate Professor of Art and Art History, Stanford), Cosana Eram (avant-garde historian), John Law (co-founder of the Burning Man Festival), violinist Theresa Wong, and kinetic sculptors Perrin Meyer and Kal Spelletich.

The program will also include a performance from Stanford’s Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics, a viewing of Man Ray’s short film Return to Reason, and a live appearance from Zurich’s Cabaret Voltaire by Swiss art historian Boris Magrini.

This program is co-sponsored by Stanford Continuing Studies, the Office of Science Outreach, The Art Institute, and the Deans of Engineering, Humanities & Sciences, and Research.
