Summer Language Study Grants for Undergraduates
GRANT INFORMATION
$2000 grants are available toward the cost of a continuing Stanford Undergraduate's summer language study in an accredited intensive language program (no private tutoring will be funded) in the US, Russia, Ukraine, Albania, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, the successor states of the former Yugoslavia, Romania, or Central Asia.
Funding is contingent on the student's admission to an accredited language program. Programs may be in the US or abroad. Recipients may seek multiple sources of funding, but may not combine this grant with the DLCL/Slavic Department grant.
Eligibility
To be considered for summer undergraduate funding, a student must:
- Be a Stanford freshman, sophomore, or junior who will continue the study of the grant language at Stanford the following academic year

Not be receiving funding from the DLCL/Slavic Dept for summer language study
Eligible languages include Russian, Ukrainian, Albanian, Czech, Polish, Hungarian, Romanian, Serbo-Croatian, Turkish, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and Uzbek.

Summer Language Study Grant application
A complete Summer Language Study Grant application must include the following:
- Summer 2016 Language Study Grant application webform (available above).
- Statement of purpose (instructions in application webform).
- An unofficial Stanford undergraduate transcript.
- One letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor or current language instructor.
