$2000 grants are available toward the cost of a continuing Stanford Undergraduate's summer language study in an accredited intensive language program (no private tutoring will be funded) in the US, Russia, Ukraine, Albania, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, the successor states of the former Yugoslavia, Romania, or Central Asia.

Funding is contingent on the student's admission to an accredited language program. Programs may be in the US or abroad. Recipients may seek multiple sources of funding, but may not combine this grant with the DLCL/Slavic Department grant.

To be considered for summer undergraduate funding, a student must:

  • Be a Stanford freshman, sophomore, or junior who will continue the study of the grant language at Stanford the following academic year
  • Not be receiving funding from the DLCL/Slavic Dept for summer language study

Eligible languages include Russian, Ukrainian, Albanian, Czech, Polish, Hungarian, Romanian, Serbo-Croatian, Turkish, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and Uzbek.
