Tina Seelig
Professor of the Practice, Management Science and Engineering // Executive Director, Stanford Technology Ventures Program
Teaching and writing are two of Tina’s passions – she teaches classes on creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and has written several books on these topics, including What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20 (2009), inGenius (2012), and Insight Out (2015). Some of her other accomplishments include earning a PhD in neuroscience from Stanford Medical School, founding a multimedia company called Bookbrowser, writing two books on the chemistry of cooking, and designing a dozen science games for kids.
Tina’s day job is running the Stanford Technology Ventures Program (STVP), the entrepreneurship center in the Stanford School of Engineering, where she focuses on developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders. As part of this role, Tina co-directs the Mayfield Fellows Program the Accel Innovation Scholars Program, and the DFJ Entrepreneurial Leaders Fellowship Her job has allowed her to be extremely entrepreneurial – there is no recipe and there are few rules. As a result, she has helped to build a program that reaches across the university and spans five continents. She has an opportunity to work with students and faculty in many regions of the world and has gained an understanding of the challenges and opportunities they face. Tina brings her enthusiasm for creativity, her knowledge about entrepreneurship, and her understanding of building a university-wide program with an international impact to the d.school.
Tina feels that it is an honor and a privilege to work with her colleagues at the d.school. She is thrilled to be part of the team. “The range of talents is remarkable and the creative energy is palpable. Every day at the d.school provides me with new insights and energy. I hope to give back at least as much as I get from this group!”
