    The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree program in Electrical Engineering is designed to prepare students for careers in research and teaching at the university level.

    The Master of Science (MS) degree program in Electrical Engineering is a course-based program that provides advanced preparation for professional practice or for teaching at the junior college level.

    Joint Degree Programs

    Joint degree programs enable students to pursue two degrees simultaneously. The Department of Electrical Engineering offers an MS in Electrical Engineering/MBA Degree Program (MS/MBA) and a Juris Doctor/MS in Electrical Engineering Degree Program (JD/MS).

  • Part-Time Graduate Programs

    Part-Time MS

    The Honors Cooperative Program (HCP) enables qualified working professionals to pursue the MS in Electrical Engineering on a part-time basis. Many classes are offered online, and it is possible to complete the MS degree requirements entirely from a distance.

    The Stanford Center for Professional Development makes it possible for qualified working professionals to enroll in graduate-level courses.

    Coterminal Program

    The coterminal degree program allows Stanford undergraduate students to study for a master's degree while completing their bachelor's degree(s).

    Adding an MS Degree

    Current Stanford graduate students in a department outside of EE may be eligible to apply for the MS in Electrical Engineering through the Graduate Program Authorization Petition (Grad Auth).
