GSC initiatives are divided into two broad categories: Events and Projects.
Events
Every year the GSC puts on at least four major events:
- Fall Welcome Back Party
- Thanksgiving Dinner
- Graduate Winter Formal
- Fourth of July BBQ
Our goal is to host diverse events for the graduate population that foster community, discourse, and fun. In addition to these major events, the GSC is always funding registered student groups to throw events and many smaller scale events throughout the year. Keep up with the latest events on the events page!
Projects
As the advocate for the graduate student body the GSC serves as the student voice for issues that affect graduate students and the university as a whole. Advocacy projects can be big or small and span the range of quality of life improvements such as better late night dining options to financial issues such as healthcare insurance costs.
Our current projects are available on the projects page and we are always looking for new ideas and feedback! E-mail us at chair [at] gsc.stanford.edu!
Diversity Advocacy Committee (DAC)
The DAC aims to increase diversity within the graduate student community by initiating and facilitating events and advocacy efforts. Find out more about our mission, history and recruitment details on the Diversity Advocacy Committee page!
Caltrain Passes
The GSC has worked with the Office of the Provost, the Vice Provost for Graduate Education, and Parking and Transportation Services to create a subsidized Caltrain Go Pass program for off campus graduate students. More information on this program and how to obtain a Go Pass for eligible students is available on the Caltrain passes page.
