Tendency #5: to assume that certain aspects of ourselves and others can’t be changed

We all have aspects of ourselves, others, and situations which we feel can be changed or improved. We also tend to uncritically assume that other aspects are difficult or impossible to alter. When we make such assumptions, we lose the motivation to try and improve things or to learn and grow in that area. This is important because most aspects of situations and people can be changed and many of the assumptions we make about things being unchangeable are wrong.
