United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI) invites final year Bachelor and Master students as well as recent graduates to participate in one of the World's most comprehensive accelerator programmes, the Sirius Programme. It is designed for talented, innovative individuals and teams who want to start or grow their business in UK.

Sirius is backed by the UK Government and is part of the new Graduate Entrepreneurs programme by UK Trade & Investment, the Government organisation that works with UK-based businesses to ensure their success in international markets, and encourages the brightest and best overseas talent to look to the UK as their global partner of choice.

The Award

The Sirius Competition offers 100 lucky winners:

  • PRIZE: Financial support of £12,000 for each person (£48,000 for a 4-person team)
  • LANDING HELP: A 12 month visa to the UK
  • ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME: A place in a top business accelerator
  • MENTORSHIP AND SUPPORT:Ffrom UK Trade & Investment's extraordinary network of investors and industry leaders
  • NETWORKING AND SUPPORT: Peer group activities, part of a cluster of successful start-ups
  • HELP GETTING CUSTOMERS: Sales training, support to access potential partners, customers and investors.

This is the perfect opportunity for young entrepreneurs hoping to launch a start-up in the UK or Europe.

Criteria of the business proposal include:

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be a final year university student (BA/BSc/Masters/Research degree)
  • Graduated from an undergraduate course in 2011 or later
  • Graduated from a postgraduate course (Masters, PhD or MBA) that ended in 2011 or later

The Application

There are two streams to apply to which have different entry questions and judging criteria:

Idea Stream
For applicants with outstanding entrepreneurial potential who have an initial business concept but have not been able to put it into practice yet.

Business Stream
For teams with start ups that are already in the early stages of development and want their business to grow in the UK.

Applications will open in Spring 2014, with the accelerator programme starting Fall 2014.
