Dr. Jidong Yang, newly appointed Head of East Asia Library at Stanford

We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Jidong Yang has accepted our offer to become the new Head of the East Asia Library at Stanford University.

Dr. Yang is currently the Head of the Asia Library at the University of Michigan, where collections, services, and staff morale have flourished under his leadership. Prior to his role at the University of Michigan, Dr. Yang served as the Chinese Studies Librarian at the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a PhD from the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Pennsylvania, an MLIS from Rutgers' School of Communication, Information and Library Studies, and an MA and BA from Peking (Beijing) University. He has published extensively in the fields of both Chinese history and East Asian librarianship.

Dr. Yang's leadership experience, scholarly expertise, and deep understanding of the role of academic libraries in teaching and research are an excellent match for Stanford's East Asia Library. He will begin his duties at Stanford on May 1, 2013.

Dr. Qi Qiu has graciously agreed to continue her excellent stewardship of the East Asia Library as Interim Head until Dr. Yang's arrival.
