We are very pleased to announce that Alyssa Hislop will join the Archive of Recorded Sound as Project Sound Recording Cataloger on January 20th, 2015.
As Project Sound Recording Cataloger, Alyssa's core responsibility will be to begin the immense task of cataloging the Denis Condon Collection of Reproducing Pianos and Rolls, part of the recently announced Player Piano Project. Alyssa will initially focus on the Welte-Mignon rolls in the collection, which represent some of the oldest and often rarest rolls found in the Condon Collection.
Alyssa comes to Stanford with more than four years experience, having served as Catalog Librarian at Dayton Metro Library in Ohio. She has significant expertise in RDA and original cataloging for audiovisual and special collections materials. As a pianist, Alyssa also possesses a detailed knowledge of much of the repertoire featured on the rolls in the Condon Collection, as well as the performers in each instance.
Alyssa received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration and French from Baldwin-Wallace College and her master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Please join us in welcoming Alyssa to Stanford.
