Stanford’s Player Piano Project presents a piano roll concert, demonstration, and lecture in conjunction with Stanford’s Material Imagination Workshop featuring 100-year-old Welte Mignon rolls from Stanford’s remarkable collection of over 12,000 rolls. Great composers and performers including Debussy, Mahler, Scriabin, Gershwin, and others will be heard in these unique roll recordings brought to life using Stanford’s fine collection of player pianos.
Our groundbreaking roll initiative combines forces with the interdisciplinary workshop focused on “sound, space and human consciousness” to explore the multifaceted research possibilities offered by the new collection.
