GIS ConsultationStanford Geospatial Center staff are available for one-on-one consultations and project support. Typical GIS support includes:

GIS software instruction
Data collection and creation
Data management
Analysis design
Map design and export
GIS project development

This service is intended to be instructional. Our goal is to help users learn how to work through these tasks on their own; GIS staff will not complete project work for you.

Consultation appointments can be scheduled by emailing David Medeiros or Stace Maples. Please include details about your project or GIS task when requesting a new appointment.

Note: new users (who are not already familiar with ArcGIS) are required to have taken our Introduction to ArcGIS workshop prior to setting up a reference appointment and will need to schedule an initial appointment to gain access to the GIS lab. You can register for the workshop here.

Course Support

The Stanford Geospatial Center can provide direct course support for any class with a GIS component. Typical support can include a short in-class presentation on what GIS is and how it can be applied to the course topic; full class Introduction to ArcGIS workshops; prepared spatial base data and data resources; special topic workshops; access to the SGC GIS lab and reference appointments.

Faculty Support

While the Stanford Geospatial Center is primarily a teaching center, we have a small allotment of time that can be dedicated to direct work for Stanford faculty GIS projects each week. Please contact David Medeiros or Stace Maples to talk about your project and schedule assistance.
