Giving by credit card on Stanford's secure Giving to Stanford website is an increasingly popular option. Simply click on the link below and fill in your credit card information.
Stanford also accepts gifts made through Electronic Funds Transfer. For more information on any of these options, please visit the General Q&A About Giving website.
Pledges
By spreading payments over a period of time — typically not more than five years — pledges allow donors to make larger commitments and fulfill them at a comfortable pace. You can make an online pledge on Stanford's secure Giving to Stanford website, or you can Contact Us for personal assistance.
Planned Gifts
Stanford's team of gift planning experts can help you select from a wide variety of tax-wise giving strategies. Visit our Planned Giving page to learn more about gifts of retirement plan assets, real property, and the complete range of life income gifts, including charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities, and pooled income funds. You may also Contact Us to speak with a planned giving officer.
Gifts of Securities
Donors who choose to give appreciated securities can receive a charitable tax deduction for the full market value of the securities and avoid capital gains tax. Publicly traded securities held in a brokerage account may be transferred electronically to Stanford University on Stanford's secure Giving to Stanford website. To ensure that your gift is properly credited, please Contact Us to inform us of the corporate name and ticker symbol as well as the number of shares you intend to give to Stanford.
Bequests
Bequests often enable donors to give more than would have been possible during their lifetimes. Bequests may be kept private, and they can be changed during the donor's lifetime. Bequests are relatively easy to establish, often with just a simple addition to a will or revocable trust. And bequests are tax-wise — gifts through bequests qualify for certain estate tax deductions. To learn more about bequests, please visit our Planned Giving page or Contact Us to speak with a planned giving officer.
Tribute Gifts
Gifts made through any of the methods described above can be designated in honor or memory of a loved one or in celebration of a milestone event, such as a birthday or anniversary. If you chose to make a tribute gift on Stanford's secure Giving to Stanford website, please indicate the honoree in the Special Instructions/Other Designation field. You may also Contact Us for personal assistance.
Matching Gifts
Many companies match the charitable gifts of their employees. To find out if your company offers a matching-gift program, please visit our Online Database of Matching Gift Companies, which is also embedded in the secure Giving to Stanford website.
