Program Overview
Training Sites
The clinical training of residents occurs at Stanford University Hospital and Clinics, the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Medical Center and the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, a large county hospital. These three sites provide the Stanford housestaff with diversity and complementary patient populations and experiences. Interns rotate through all three sites.
Rotations
We believe in several fundamental principles as an Internal Medicine residency training program, and have designed our curriculum to match these principles.
Tracks
We pride ourselves in offering an individualized residency education with intensive mentorship. To help accomplish this goal, we have a variety of tracks to choose from. Please note that these are separate from the Pathways of Distinction (PODs) and the Core Faculty Mentorship Groups, in which every incoming Internal Medicine intern will have the opportunity to participate.
How to Apply
Stanford participates in the National Residency Matching Program through ERAS only.
The deadline for completed applications is October 1. Interview days are held on Tuesdays and Fridays from the beginning of November through mid-January.
All intern appointments are made in accordance with the rules of the NRMP.
