MLA students and alumni have the opportunity to share their work and collaborate with faculty and graduate students outside of the Stanford community.

AGLSP Conference

The Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs (AGLSP), with over 105 member institutions, holds an annual conference to bring together faculty, students, alumni, and administrators of graduate liberal studies programs. The conference provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas among members, and offers students and alumni the opportunity to present their work.

GLS Joint Symposium

The Graduate Liberal Studies Joint Symposium was started in 2007 by Stanford University and Dominican University as a way to bring together graduate liberal studies students, alumni, and staff from western schools for a weekend of social and intellectual interaction. Since 2008, the symposium has grown to include participants from nine western schools as well as Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

Participating schools include Stanford University, Dominican University, University of Southern California, Reed College, Marylhurst University, Simon Fraser University, Mount St. Mary’s College, and Maastricht University.

The 2012 GLS Joint Symposium was hosted by the University of Southern California, June 22-24, 2012.

Confluence: The Journal of Graduate Liberal Studies

Confluence is an interdisciplinary journal dedicated to the publication of scholarly works by students, faculty, and graduates of member Graduate Liberal Studies programs. Confluence is published biannually and features nonfiction, fiction, poetry and other creative works. The journal also publishes reviews of books of special interest to the GLS community.

Stanford MLA students and alumni have been featured in several editions of Confluence.

Tangents: The Journal of the Master of Liberal Arts Program at Stanford University

Tangents is published annually and features the works of Stanford MLA students and alumni. The journal includes essays, works of nonfiction, and poetry, and is edited and produced by a committee of MLA students and alumni.
