Cantor Arts Center Launches Free
Monthly Social Event
“MIX” Begins October 16, 5:30-7:30 pm

Stanford, California - On October 16, 2008, the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University debuts “MIX,” a monthly social event, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, which will continue on the third Thursday every month. This lively evening offers art, cocktails, music, and conversation in an inspiring setting. Each month, MIX will offer different experiences, from music to on-the-edge performance art, from gallery explorations to video, and more.

“We have designed MIX with young professionals, ages 25 to 45, in mind.” said Lorran Bronnar, the Center's special events manager. “Our goal is to increase cultural participation among younger audiences and more deeply engage them in the life of the museum. Celebrating the Cantor Arts Center's diverse art collections and ever-changing exhibitions, MIX offers young professionals a unique opportunity to connect to the museum's artwork and to each other."

The Cantor Arts Center-one of the Peninsula's preeminent cultural destinations-kicks off a year of exciting special exhibitions this fall. MIX guests will be able to experience great art in “Dürer to Picasso”; “Timbuktu to Cape Town”; “Rodin!”; “Pop to Present”; and “From the Bronze Age of China to Japan's Floating World.”

MIX is open to anyone 21 or older. Admission is free, with a cash bar, and parking is also free. After October 16, subsequent dates for MIX in 2008 are November 20 and December 18.
