"Stanford in Washington" center fine following East Coast quake
The 5.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the Washington D. C. area Tuesday afternoon caused a bit of shaking at the Bing Stanford in Washington Program, but no damage or injuries were reported.
According to Julie Hardin-Stauter, associate director in Zone Management Administration, students who are participating in the program during the summer are not typically in the program's buildings during the day, but are on Capitol Hill.
"They felt it and are fine! Felt like a jackhammer and then a swaying of pendant lights," Hardin-Stauter, who works in Bonair Siding, wrote in an email after contacting D.C. "The visual to the structure is good. No damage."
