Two sisters in the Eisenhower Era: One's stacked. One's not. One becomes a suburban mom; one joins a radical terrorist gang. By the time the Bush administration is in full swing, one is a lesbian mom running a Planned Parenthood clinic; the other is a right-wing radio show celebrity.

The Stanford Department of Drama presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel's comedy The Mineola Twins at 8 p.m. Nov. 14-16 in Pigott Theater.

The second of Vogel's "Mammary Plays" tells the story of identical twins—identical except for their bra size—who are opposites in moral and political temperament. Using voiceover, dream sequence, double-casting and cross-gender casting, The Mineola Twins echoes the unfunny and anxiety-ridden schisms of contemporary American society.

The Mineola Twins is directed by Kay Kostopoulos, a professional actor and lecturer in the Drama Department. Her Stanford directing credits include Shakespeare's Pericles, Chekhov's Platonov, Caryl Churchill's Top Girls and John Patrick Shanley's Savage in Limbo, as well as staged readings of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, Harold Pinter's The Lover and Oscar Wilde's Salome. She also directed and performed in Homer's Odyssey online project for Continuing Studies and in two Aurora Forum projects (the Walt Whitman centennial celebration and readings from English Professor Hilton Obenzinger's biographic novel, Running Through Fire).
