A joint solar research effort managed by Stanford and the University of California-Berkeley has won $25 million from the U.S. Department of Energy's SunShot Initiative. The work is aimed at helping the solar power industry overcome technical barriers and reduce the cost of solar installations.

Today's robotic technology looks nothing like Rosie from "The Jetsons." It is hidden in a car that drives itself, a controller that helps gamers "feel" the road and a mechanical arm that helps a doctor operate on a patient miles away. Visitors can interact with these robots at the Robot Block Party on April 14.

- Police issue community alert:
Stanford Police are investigating a sexual assault in an Escondido Village low rise on Comstock Circle on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. Police said the victim did not suffer physical injuries. Police issued a community alert about the incident and have urged anyone with additional information to call 650-329-2413.
