Shoven talks about the debt debate and economic recovery

Research prompts revamping of biology lab courses

Research by a team that included Tadashi Fukami, right, and Sara Brownell suggests that the "cookbook" model of teaching biology labs doesn't work as well as a research-based approach. So Stanford Biology is overhauling its core lab courses for the 2011-12 academic year.

Expectations are set high at Haas' Stanford College Prep

The Haas Center's Stanford College Prep, which started in 1981 as Upward Bound, aims to get students at East Palo Alto Academy High School eligible for—and accepted into—college through tutoring, workshops, mentoring and a summer residential program. Results show it's working.
