Skin cells help to develop possible heart defect treatment

Using skin cells from young patients who have a severe genetic heart defect, School of Medicine scientists have generated beating heart cells that carry the same genetic mutation. Ricardo Dolmetsch, associate professor of neurobiology, is senior author of the Nature study.

Are the humanities a dead end? Deans say no

During a recent panel discussion, education school Dean Deborah Stipek, law school Dean Larry Kramer and deans of the business and medical schools encouraged sophomores to follow their passions rather than pad their resumes. Grad school, they said, will still be in the offing.
