David Jones, associate vice president for employee and management services, has been promoted to vice president of human resources. Jones, who has been at Stanford since 2007, will assume his new position Feb. 28, succeeding Diane Peck, who has led Human Resources at Stanford for seven years.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education is accepting student-initiated applications through April 6, 2011. DARE, which stands for Diversifying Academia, Recruiting Excellence, is a two-year fellowship program for advanced doctoral students who want to prepare for academic careers, who are committed to actively diversifying academia throughout their careers, and whose background or experiences would diversify the professoriate in their own academic fields.
