Researchers try to untangle the root causes of autism

Researchers are trying to unlock the mysteries of autism. Some have been in the field for decades; others are newcomers, spurred by personal and professional motivations to understand a disorder that affects 1 in every 110 kids. The latest issue of Stanford magazine explores their work.

Memorial service set for visiting scholar Rune Nielsen

A memorial service for Rune Nielsen, a visiting scholar from Denmark who died during winter break, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Church. A reception will follow at the Bechtel International Center. Nielsen, 25, died Dec. 18 in a single-car accident in Palo Alto.
