Iyengar discusses upcoming State of the Union address

President Obama addresses Congress tonight in his second State of the Union speech. In an interview with Stanford Report, Shanto Iyengar, professor of communication and director of the Political Communication Lab, discussed what to expect from the president's address.

Susan Schmitt promoted to university controller

Sue Schmitt, who has worked for Stanford since 1995, has been promoted to the position of university controller following a national search.
In this role, Schmitt is responsible for leading and managing the financial and management accounting activities of the university.

Paying star employees well is a good strategy for innovation

Observers of Silicon Valley have always assumed that successful companies get their competitive edge and fuel innovation by paying star employees more than the competition. Research co-authored by Graduate School of Business Professor Kathryn Shaw now suggests that this assumption is true.
