Palo Alto City Council green-lights hospital renewal project

After four years and nearly 100 public meetings, the Palo Alto City Council Monday voted on the final approvals needed to move forward with the plan to rebuild Stanford Hospital and expand Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital to assure capacity and meet state-mandated safety standards.

Nine honored with Cuthbertson, Dinkelspiel, Gores awards

Nine people, including two professors, two teaching assistants, three staff members and two undergraduate students have been chosen for 2011 Cuthbertson, Dinkelspiel and Gores awards. The university awards will be presented at the Commencement ceremony on June 12.

Stanford 'disappointed' in High Court ruling in Roche case

In Stanford University v. Roche Molecular Systems, the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday issued a ruling in favor of the drug company and against Stanford, concluding a case that has a far-reaching impact on the ownership rights to inventions that result from federally funded research.

Researchers focus on intestinal worms in China's children

Research conducted by Stanford's Rural Education Action Project in China's Guizhou Province and neighboring Sichuan shows that about 35 percent of children in these areas suffer from intestinal worms. That number shoots up to 80 percent in some of Guizhou's villages.
