Physicist Geoffrey West to deliver Hofstadter lectures

With a million people a week becoming urbanized, cities are the future of the world, says physicist Geoffrey West of the Santa Fe Institute. He will address the problems of urbanization when he delivers the 2012 Robert Hofstadter Memorial Lectures April 16 and 17.

Invasive heart test widely overused, study shows

A Medical School study has found that an invasive heart test used routinely to measure heart function is being dramatically overused. “This adds both risk to the patient and significant extra cost,” said Ronald Witteles, assistant professor of cardiovascular medicine.
