Interest in Africa up as more students travel, study there

Courses offered through the Center for African Studies have increased enrollment. Interest in Africa is up among Stanford students, despite uncertainty in public funding for area and international studies programs nationwide.

New robotic sensors used to better detect ocean wildlife

Researchers are using mobile robotic receivers and moored listening stations to detect ocean creatures swimming by. It's the first time the technology has been applied to ocean wildlife. A new app also allows the public to follow sharks.

Random pushup breaks between meetings or during lunch may become the norm, thanks to the new School of Medicine Sports Complex, located next to the Lokey Stem Cell Research Building.
