Extreme plasma theories put SLAC's LCLS to the test

A recent study involving extremely hot and dense plasmas demonstrated the unique capabilities of the Linac Coherent Light Source X-ray laser at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.

  • Alumni volunteer service awards: The Stanford Associates' Board of Governors is seeking nominations for the university's annual alumni volunteer service awards. Nominations are due by Wednesday, Aug. 15. The awards recognize excellence in volunteer service for Stanford. Additional specific criteria can be found on the Stanford Associates' Awards website.
  • ITS outages: Information Technology Services staff worked on Wednesday morning to solve separate problems that intermittently delayed the delivery of campus emails and caused a 20-minute phone outage for approximately 900 people who use Nortel phones. Stanford Report, which is usually delivered via email around 4 a.m., did not arrive in most campus mailboxes until almost noon. Read more.
