Trustees give site OKs for energy center, SLAC building

At their Feb. 6-7 meeting, the Board of Trustees gave site approval for a campus energy center and for a Science and User Support Building at SLAC. It also lauded the success of The Stanford Challenge, said chair Leslie Hume.

Book examines state-owned oil firms, prices, pollution

According to a new book, Oil and Governance, state-owned oil companies dominate the world's oil supplies, and the meddling of politicians often results in excessive pollution, poor company performance and more volatile oil prices.

 

Viagra may be key to treating rare childhood malady

Physicians at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital discovered, essentially by accident, that Viagra may be a potential therapy for hard-to-treat malformations of the lymphatic system. Researchers at Packard and the Medical School now have a study under way.
